The ramble is a loose picture series with impressions from cities and regions along the VIA REGIA that should motivate the visitor to deepen their interest in the rich and various „cultural space Europe“ which gained new important dimensions with the eastern enlargement of the European Union.

During the preparational works it became apparent that the history of the VIA REGIA expresses the European history. It is preserved in cities buildings, in the memory of the people, in uncountable archives and collections and is alive in everyday life with all antagonisms. And so the planed picture series became a patchwork of European history, very incomplete, very sketchy and sometimes blurred.

The screen changes run automatically and tell in their from of change European history in an optic way. Behind every picture is a text that can be activated with mouse click. And: there is no beginning and no end. You can enter the road in an optional point, follow it a part of ist course to the East or the West and leave it somewhere else.
